This is a chronicle of my trip home from Malaysia, and our last Christmas on the farm. Please feel free to post comments and respond to stuff that I've written. If there is anything you would like to see or pictures you'd like me to take and post on-line just ask and I'll do my best to oblige.

In Praise of My Wool Sweater

How much would you pay
for one wool sweater
how much should it cost
for this souvenir

I paid 20 pounds
which is about,
if you do the math
roughly of course
and being quite fair

fifty canadian bucks
one hundred forty ringgit
three hundred seventy dirham
thirty five euros

was it well-made?
is it real wool?
who gets the cash?
do I really need it?

the answer is easy
because if you think
it resides in the question
the right question of course

Don't ask yourself
how much you would pay
for a big grey wool sweater
but rather stop

and ask

how much is it worth to you
to stay warm

I gave up everything wool when I migrated from New York to Indonesia. Now it looks like I'm getting hitched and moving to KSA. Your rug idea sounds real nice but maybe something wool, a garment of some kind...that could be a nice wedding gift since I haven't got anything wool anymore and I'll be needing something besides Mr. Right to keep me warm over there. I googled "moroccan" and "wool" and saw lots of carpets but also saw some interesting garments...What do you think?...a burnoose maybe....safest colour would be black of course considering the fact that its Saudi.
